Passionate about making a difference, Susmita loves to bring technology to masses for improving quality of life. Susmita is the founder of Pushan, a social enterprise, based in Indore that brings clean energy solutions to workplaces, campuses and homes in rural and urban areas. Since 2011, Susmita’s organization is providing last-mile energy access by creating innovative solar energy solutions for powering livelihood activities, health services and education facilities to underserved segment.Pushan provides an integrated solution with high quality solar energy products, financing through local banks/financial institution, transportation, on-site installation, after sales service and training on product usage. Pushan raises awareness on benefits of solar energy and how solar power can make people self-reliant. Our livelihood projects are based on local resources, activity and lifestyle. We build a business case for livelihood activity on the amount of additional income generation. Pushan designs and develops customized solar energy solution for eliminating drudgery, improving productivity and efficiency in existing and new livelihood areas. We develop solar energy solutions for providing health services to underserved segment. Our solar energy solution for education is providing E-learning in Anganwadi’s and smart classes in remote schools.Susmita worked with international companies like Bayer in Canada & US, Lanxess in North America and Germany and DSM in The Netherlands. She has held different positions along the verticals including that of Global Technical Director at DSM Elastomers, The Netherlands. Susmita’s career path has intersected multiple industries, markets and disciplines. This has provided her with the opportunity to interact with a myriad population of humanity across the globe.Susmita holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science from IIT Kharagpur and Masters in Chemistry from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya. She conducted research at National Chemical Laboratory, Pune as a DST Young Scientist Fellow, University of Marburg, Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow and Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. Born in Assam, Susmita grew up in the midst of eastern Himalayas in Arunachal Pradesh, India. She has lived in Germany, USA, Canada and The Netherlands.
