Prior to my career at GCL I worked for several electrical installation companies gaining experience within the industry and also constantly improving my expertise through continual training programmes. I then worked for an Electrical Contracting Company, simultaneously retraining in the Design and Erection of Electrical Installations. I then gained the City & Guilds 2400 qualification. This gives responsibility for the quality of the electrical design, specification, installation, inspection and testing processes. A good working knowledge of the IEE Regulations was required for entry on to this course. The City & Guilds 2400 qualification is one method of demonstrating competence where membership of the NICEIC and ECA (Electrical Contract Association) is sought. This was further enhanced by gaining the coveted BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer RCDD qualification. Attaining this course demonstrates the highest levels of knowledge regarding network and cabling infrastructures, being suitable for designers, installers, IT managers, consultants, building specifiers and architects. The qualification requires a minimum of five years of distribution design experience in the industry.
