Managing a membership charity campaigning on a number of issues and providing services to tens of thousands of people every year.

Part of the senior management team at Humanist Society Scotland I manage and lead the charity's campaign work on issues of importance to the society's 15,000 strong membership. This take a variety of building ground level support for campaigns with the public to public affairs engagement with key stakeholders.Campaigns to date include:- Legalisation of assisted dying in Scotland- Giving children and young people a choice on attendance of religious observance at schools- Scrapping Scotland's outdated blasphemy LawsI also manage the Society's communications. This includes media liaison, strategic communications planning, engagement with public/members/supporter, website and social media management, events co-ordination.

The Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland (MACS) was set up under the Transport (Scotland) Act 2001 to advise Scottish Ministers on disability issues in relation to transport. MACS provides independent advice. While supported by Transport Scotland, MACS offers its views independently of government. This is a part time public appointment I hold alongside my other work.

My work at Citizens Advice Scotland involved raising awareness through research and study of the current social policy issues that our raised from the front line of the service. This took a variety of methods including consumer education, advocacy to policy makers, media work and involvement in governmental and industry reviews/work.My work covered many different areas and I gathered subject expertise in the following areas:- High cost short term lending market (payday loans, doorstep lending etc.)- Premiums & barriers to residents of remote and rural Scotland- Used car sales- Routes to redress for consumer complaints- Scam avoidance and reporting- Funeral costs and poverty- Parking on Private Land- Private rented housing

Acted in a professional support capacity for a member of the Scottish Parliament. This role involved a wide range of duties including front line constituency services as well asworking on research and policy scrutiny. This role required an in-depth understanding of Scotland's political landscape an the legislative process of the Scottish Parliament.

Represented the views and needs of over 20,000 students both at a University level and on a national platform. My role focussed on issues regarding student welfare outside of the classroom and I had a specific focus on housing and financial support.
