Responsibilities include being a proactive part of a team maintaining and advancing the Horry County datacenter and 100+ servers that provide service and support for the people of Horry County, the municipalities contained within its borders and our neighboring county to our South. This includes a suite of Public Safety services that remains operational 24x7. I manage and monitor the environmental conditions through a variety of tools that provide real time environmental information on power consumption, cooling efficiencies, humidity, fluid detection, and remote video monitoring. In addition to the environmental conditions, I proactively monitor the physical servers for actual or predicted failures and hardware firmware levels. The SAN storage and all backup and recovery operations for our physical, virtual, and AS/400 environment also fall within my daily responsibilities. I manage the VMware vSphere infrastructure where we have successfully virtualized over half of the physical servers to date. I am a primary point of contact for support on the host of public safety applications and servers. I also proactively communicate frequently with a host of vendors maintaining a good working relationship that helps to ensure that our hardware and software versions remain up to date and address any issues as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Worked as a patrol officer, helped establish the community oriented policing model within the department and spent several years working in a high crime/drug area walking the streets and talking to the citizens of the community. I then spent some time assigned to the narcotics/vice section where I had the privilege of working a variety of cases on both the state and federal level. During this time I participated in joint cases with ICE, DEA, and as a special deputy on task force of both the FBI and US Marshals. I then became part of the initial team tasked with the creation and development of the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit. Starting in 2002, I was permitted to assist the MIS administrator assigned to the police department in matters of technology related to the police department. This included computer setup and deployment, troubleshooting of various network, hardware and software issues, active directory user, group, and permissions management, and file server maintenance within the department. This role was also a part of my responsibilities as part of the 15th Circuit DEU. I served as the primary technical contact for critical systems to include, all desktop and laptop computers, all clandestine audio, video, and GPS monitoring and recording equipment and the applications associated with those devices. I helped assess equipment needs and made recommendations based on those assessments.

As Owner/Operator I was responsible for a security guard force up to 25 personnel that provided a variety of services to include stationary post, walking patrol as well as roving vehicle patrols. I managed the small computer workgroup in conjunction with daily business task that included employee management, office documentation, cold calls, contract negotiations, and payroll.
