I write the stories and say the words that build bridges between people and technology. I have over 20 years in the telecom industry, with a focus on product, marketing, and community relations. I chair multiple community organizations which are very effective at noticeable business growth and community impact. I built the business models for expanding fiber optic data services into our surrounding communities and I brokered the relationships with city and county leadership to ease the transition into their cities.My most cherished accomplishment was being awarded the citizen of the year by the West Kerr County Chamber of Commerce for my leadership with community development activities. My most impactful accomplishment was the production of a 10 minute video that my board of directors submitted to the FCC for the advocacy of higher internet speeds for rural and underserved America.When I am not writing or speaking about technology I can be found out in the Texas Hill Country enjoying all that it offers.

    I joined the Grocery Supply Company team to help them reinvent their San Antonio warehousing operations. We made some great progress but in the end ran out of steam and never fully experienced the production increases that we expected. While there we implemented a new receiving, stocking, and selection system, purchased some updated equipment (forklifts and stock pickers), redesigned some rack facings, built new offices, and reslotted approximately 7,500 candy and general merchandise items. Any of these would have been major projects but we did all of these within a 12 month period.We simply wore out our employees and supervisory staff and failed to go the final distance. Given a bit more time we would have set a completely new standard for GSC.

    What an amazing experience I had working with McLane Company. On my second day of the job I was thrust into a partially built distribution center in the middle of Illinois, in January. The rush of the job never slowed down for the next several years. I learned the distribution business from some of the best in the industry and later went on to learn and train at multiple facilities around the country. Toward the end of my tenure with McLane I spent about a year at their Tacoma, WA facility. While there I worked with a team to train and coach distribution employees in logistical operations to improve productivity via emerging technologies. It was an interesting experience of doing old things in new ways. My final few months with McLane was in their engineering group learning about ways to re-slot product such that it could be selected with the fewest movements possible. This was not only a cost cutting exercise but one in which would ultimately save wear and tear on the employees themselves.
