In a rapidly growing organization it can be easy to miss the most important element - the people you serve. In this role I foster close relationships with teams at all levels of a community. I bridge the gap between customer operations and company sales directives.

The business development role is probably the best of all. Being able to help define a product mix and ultimately the shape of an organization is a strong responsibility. At HCTC we are reaching out into markets in which we have historically not ventured. Plowing new ground, developing new products, and strengthening communities is a perk that few jobs offer.

The competitive businesses manager role allowed me to pick some low hanging fruit made possible by a dis-engaged competitor. It was a simply a matter of reading the market properly and building a tactical strategy to exploit the opportunity. I am always amazed at how short sided some companies are, especially when the customer feedback is crystal clear on what their expectations truly are.The strategy executed was (and continues to be) very successful and has provided the forecasted cash flow.

Syniverse is an amazing company, however few people outside of the wireless industry actually know their name. They are the ones that make wireless phones work as well as they do. In addition, they have pioneered public safety programs that hopefully you will never have to use.While at Syniverse I was the local contact for the Alltel Wireless account team. Our team supported wireless local number portability, mobile data roaming, short messaging services (text messages), billing and clearing, fraud protection, and various cross country data circuits.Our team consistently provided exceptional customer service (as reported by customer scorecard) while simultaneously exceeding the performance targets.

While at Five Star I solicited and executed all wireless roaming agreements in order to maximize revenue and customer experience for both our customers and those carriers whose customers utilized our network. I was an early adopter of cross band roaming and aggressively worked to seek out the best network for our subscribers all across the nation.

I joined the Grocery Supply Company team to help them reinvent their San Antonio warehousing operations. We made some great progress but in the end ran out of steam and never fully experienced the production increases that we expected. While there we implemented a new receiving, stocking, and selection system, purchased some updated equipment (forklifts and stock pickers), redesigned some rack facings, built new offices, and reslotted approximately 7,500 candy and general merchandise items. Any of these would have been major projects but we did all of these within a 12 month period.We simply wore out our employees and supervisory staff and failed to go the final distance. Given a bit more time we would have set a completely new standard for GSC.

What an amazing experience I had working with McLane Company. On my second day of the job I was thrust into a partially built distribution center in the middle of Illinois, in January. The rush of the job never slowed down for the next several years. I learned the distribution business from some of the best in the industry and later went on to learn and train at multiple facilities around the country. Toward the end of my tenure with McLane I spent about a year at their Tacoma, WA facility. While there I worked with a team to train and coach distribution employees in logistical operations to improve productivity via emerging technologies. It was an interesting experience of doing old things in new ways. My final few months with McLane was in their engineering group learning about ways to re-slot product such that it could be selected with the fewest movements possible. This was not only a cost cutting exercise but one in which would ultimately save wear and tear on the employees themselves.
