I have practiced CBT since beginning the graduate diploma in 2006. The course required 200 hours of clinical contact time, accrued through two placements (one in an NHS OH department and one in a charitable organisation, creating a range of experience and client base). Initially, I gained employment as a PWP in the IAPT service for North East Lincolnshire. I progressed to a HI Therapist position and have been working at this level since. I moved to York and Selby IAPT continuing the same role until October 2019 when I became a student counsellor (practising CBT) at the University of Leeds Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service. I recently moved to Kirklees IAPT service to take up an IAPT Team Manager post full time. I continue my clinical work within this role to maintain my accreditation with the BABCP.Historically I have treated adults over the age of sixteen for depression and anxiety disorders including PTSD, OCD, phobias, health anxiety, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, panic, self esteem and adjustment disorder using a variety of evidence-based techniques. I completed the IAPT supervision training and have supervised PWPs and CBT therapists, including trainees, as and when required.I have lead CBT-based groups at Step 2 and have jointly written and run a CBT group for depression at Step 3 alongside the IAPT Clinical Lead in Grimsby. In York, I ran two therapeutic groups which ran as ten week courses; one based on BA for depression (Martell) and the other used a transdiagnostic model (unified protocol) for anxiety disorders. I owned the responsibility for anxiety disorder specific measures being captured to make sure we were enabling recovery for service users based not just on the standard dataset but for the specific anxiety problems they presented with. This was a manual process. I gained full accreditation with the BABCP in January 2015 (backdated to Nov 2014) and have maintained this since through ongoing CPD and regular supervision.I have attended training for EMDR, CBASP (Cognitive Behavioural Analysis System of Psychotherapy), the Method of Levels transdiagnostic approach, Introduction to ACT, ACT for OCD, Introduction to CFT, advance clinical skills in CFT and have attended the BABCP conference regularly.I have completed a MRes at Leeds Beckett University investigating men's experiences of treatment through IAPT services.
