In the midst of COVID, I took the opportunity to try something new at an early-stage legal tech start up before starting my full-time role.I first designed and implemented a pub/sub system to enable real-time updating and chat functionality. Built with Socket.io, Node.js, Express.js, and Passport.js for JSON Web Token (JWT) authentication of web sockets, the companion pub/sub server is designed to be programmatically controlled by the traditional web app server through endpoints adhering to the JSON:API specification. I then integrated the pub/sub system with a pre-existing internal web app server written in Rails and Vue.js, relying on Vue's reactivity system.

I was recruited to be in the founding group of venture partners. As a technical venture partner, I sourced pre-seed and seed stage investment opportunities, conducted due diligence, worked with entrepreneurs, and presented at and participated in partnership meetings. I immersed myself daily in the entrepreneurship ecosystem at CMU and the broader Pittsburgh region. As the number of venture partners grew to ~100 at 50+ universities, I collaborated with a network of talented partners across the US and Canada.

I spearheaded a project to explore an alternate way of addressing in collaboration with an external startup through Azure Maps under the Azure IoT Mobility and Connected Vehicle Platform teams. I worked cross-functionally with internal account managers, engineers, program managers, and technical and business contacts to implement a service from scratch. I hosted the third-party service using their Docker image on Azure Web Apps, Azure Kubernetes Service, and their provided Windows static C++ library. I also implemented the MVC service REST API endpoints piped through the Azure Maps platform using C#. As part of due diligence, I also analyzed the third-party tech using KML, and Python to overlay visualizations on a globe. Finally, I created a client-side application using HTML, CSS, Javascript, the backend service I built, and other Azure Maps services.I presented a strategic business recommendation and technical next steps to internal Partners, Principals, and mobility advisors to leadership, and at a Mercedes Benz customer onsite.

I worked in both the PM and SWE disciplines on the CSCP (Capacity, Supply Chain, and Provisioning) team to create a centralized news feed platform of Azure supply chain events and mitigate cloud capacity issues. As a program manager, I met with managers, designers, software engineers, and other PMs to scope the problem, brainstorm features for the project, communicate target goals, set a timeline for the product, and collect feedback. As a Software Engineer, I worked on the backend using C#, Service Fabric, CosmosDB, and Kusto. I built a stateful service synced to the event database, provided infrastructure for features such as commenting and flagging, and implemented the the associated APIs called by the client-side written in Angular and Typescript.

I was recruited for and hired as one of 23 interns for Qualcomm’s Early Identification Program (EIP). I worked closely with software engineers on the ML1 LTE/5G team to develop a customizable issue triaging framework. I worked in Python, maintained SQL databases, triggered backend applications with Jenkins, and set up a feedback channel that signaled completion to the server and sent an email reply to engineers. I was also a Finalist in the intern HackMobile Hackathon. My team implemented an Android app that leveraged Alexa voice recognition, sentiment analysis APIs, and Google Maps Location APIs to monitor depressive tendencies over time.

I worked with Professor Nicolas Christin on analyzing online anonymous marketplaces (e.g. Silk Road, Dream). One focus was on the similarities between the longitudinal evolution of the online anonymous marketplace ecosystem and that of real-world markets.I implemented Python scripts to aid in large and efficient data collection and work around CAPTCHAs.Through this experience, I gained insight into academic research as a career and the processes for designing and implementing proposals.

I worked as a residential pool and swim lesson lifeguard. Besides lifeguarding I was also responsible for pool and poolside maintenance and aiding pool guests.This role required being both CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certified.
