Senior Assistant Public Prosecutor For International Legal Assistance In Criminal Matters
CurrentAs a Senior Assistance Public Prosecutor at the International Legal Assistance Center (IRC), I play a crucial role in facilitating and coordinating international legal aid requests, acting as a vital link between the Public Prosecutor’s office, the police, and foreign judicial authorities. My work is embedded within a nationwide collaboration framework that ensures seamless communication and cooperation across national and international boundaries. The IRCs form a national network dedicated to handling incoming and outgoing international legal assistance requests. In my capacity, I also facilitate the direct exchange of requests between the Public Prosecutor’s Office and courts within the European Union and liaise with the Ministry for cases involving countries outside the EU or based on reciprocity.Role and Responsibilities:- Advisory Role: I provide expert advice to prosecutors and police on evidence collection abroad, extradition, and the transfer of criminal proceedings. This encompasses both straightforward and complex cases, including those involving organized crime and undermining activities. - Legal Evaluation: I conduct thorough legal assessments of complex international legal assistance requests, ensuring that they meet stringent legal standards and are processed efficiently. - Coordination and Communication: Acting as the key liaison, I coordinate with foreign judicial authorities to manage the execution of legal assistance requests. My role ensures that all parties are aligned and that requests are handled with precision and care. - Quality Assurance: I contribute to and uphold the high legal standards and knowledge within the prosecution office concerning international legal assistance. This involves continuous learning and dissemination of best practices. - Interdepartmental Collaboration: I work closely with the prosecutor, other regional and national IRCs, and administrative support to ensure smooth operations and effective case management.
