I deliver positive, proactive media campaigns, mainly focussed on education and young people, including mental health, utilising a variety of channels to ensure our message reaches the right audience. I respond swiftly and professionally to breaking news and reactive media enquiries, liaising with senior colleagues and drafting statements or arranging interviews as appropriate.

I developed stories to give them an exclusive angle and I thrived on beating the opposition. In my final year as a journalist, I was a finalist in three categories at the Kent Press and Broadcast Awards. I was invited on press trips and wrote travel reviews for the website and papers.

I worked as a senior reporter at Mail Publications Ltd, writing for the Downs Mail series of newspapers and Mid Kent Living magazine, and I did copywriting for the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology's Marine Scientist magazine. As a press and media consultant I promoted projects and events via press releases, news letters and social media. I worked on Arts Council England's Creative People and Places programme as well as for architectural arts project Making Places, Changing People, which was backed by the Heritage Lottery Fund. I was also employed by a number of small scale arts organisations and community groups.

I started as a trainee and quickly progressed to become a senior reporter. I covered high profile court cases, including at the Court of Appeal, brought in exclusives and built strong relationships with contacts. I interviewed Prime Minister David Cameron during his election campaign and Michael Palin when he took part in the Promenade Festival on the Isle of Sheppey.I wrote the leisure pages for three mid-week papers, previewing and reviewing events and attractions. I compiled a series called Suz's Swale where I viewed my patch through the eyes of a tourist, and I wrote travel articles during a trip to Australia that were published in the East Kent Gazette series and on the thisiskent website.
