Placement year as part of sandwich course of my undergraduate university degree. I performance-tested electronic household products such as irons and toasters following Morphy Richards and British Standards. I often worked alongside Design Engineers to determine the cause of failure for products by disassembling and assessing test results. I also life-tested various products using standardised rigs as well as designing and building my own testing rigs. These tests involved general maintenance but also included upgrading existing test rooms for versatility, for example by implementing a plumbing system into a test room and adapting a system to use deionised water in dishwasher tests to eliminate scale build up. As part of these testing procedures I also completed reports and kept records up to date using Microsoft Word and Excel.
