Over the past few years, I’ve purposefully engaged in certification programs that center around positive psychology, leadership and executive coaching and assessments. I have found, and continue to find, such joy in helping people realize their strengths and building their personal strategic plans.Now that I’ve retired from full-time work, I will have the opportunity to consult and coach more. I officially retired as the executive director of the Barberton Community Foundation in April 2023 after four years of leading a great team and dedicated board.Prior to working in Barberton, I served as the president and CEO of Philanthropy Ohio and I also has served as the VP for development and donor services for Akron Community Foundation. Additionally, my career highlights are teaching and leadership positions with regional universities, as well as acting as a private consultant and leadership coach serving clients nationally. My degrees are in English from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia, a Master’s in Marketing from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development/Strategic Planning from Georgia State University.My career and the work I have had the pleasure to be involved with has been recognized by the Columbus Business First newspaper, and I was named as one of the area's “People to Know in Not-for-profits” as well as by Northern Ohio Live magazine as an Athena Awards finalist. The Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio recognized me as a “2015 Woman of Distinction” and my alma mater, Columbus State University, honored me with the “2015 Excellence in Alumni Achievement Award.”

I also met with prospective donors to discuss how we could be a resource in their charitable giving. In addition, our area worked with nonprofit organizations to build their endowment funds and protect their investments and we helped the community foundation’s affiliate funds meet and exceed their fundraising goals.
