Appointed by Governor John Engler to the Michigan Broadband Development Authority to expand the availability and utilization of broadband services throughout Michigan. Issued $150M worth of bonds to finance broadband infrastructure projects, which included broadband providers for infrastructure expansion and broadband users for the acquisition of information technology systems - hardware/software applications that use broadband connections.

Expanded and led the global government and regulatory affairs effort, including U.S. Federal government and international government relations, focusing initially on two of Ocean's subsidiaries, Panocean Storage & Transport, a leading company in the moving and storage of bulk liquid chemicals throughout Europe and the United States and O.I.L. the second largest global company which provided support services to the offshore oil industry.•Led a strategic effort to interact with government, military and regulatory officials in China to enable Ocean to develop a joint venture in China, finalized in 1998.•Served as a member of the executive management team and in 1996 helped establish subsidiaries in Finland and Korea.
