Our goal is to help students improve their grades, raise their test scores, learn productive study skills, build their academic confidence,and reach their full potential. Our tutors provide highly individualized instruction. They are recruited from colleges and universities and must have experience and a passion for teaching. They then undergo training in strategy design which includes motivation techniques and background in the power of the 1:1 relationship for optimal learning.Smarty’s Tutoring began with the dream of experienced credentialed educator, Suzanne Freeman. Using her experience as a tutor, teacher, administrator, consultant, and a parent within the public and private sector, she devised an unique training plan. By teaching tutors learning strategies and how to reach students in a positive, non-threatening manner, they can promote self esteem and a desire to gain more knowledge. Mrs. Freeman is an integral part of the company and oversees each client’s progress. Special consultations with parents can be arranged. Our teaching philosophy is based upon a firm belief that every child can succeed at school, given the proper encouragement, motivation and tools. We believe that a tutor’s most most important job is to listen and observe how a child works and learns, and then provide each student with specific strategies to work and learn more effectively.Our aim is to reach underachieving students as early as possible and teach them effective lifelong learning and problem solving skills. This will begin a cycle of confidence, motivation, and academic success that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
