We pivoted the cafe during Covid and thrived with a take away / ordering app service and remained open for business for the majority of the pandemic. Arts Company Director for rednile projects Ltd for 10yrs Currently a board member for Creative Heritage Studios CICI have a proven track record of developing, managing and delivering arts projects which have made a positive difference to individuals and communities. During these projects I have established strong partnerships and maximised external funding. I also developed strong relationships with the private sector and was contracted by property developers to commission and develop site specific art work and community projects as part of their section 106 agreements. Within projects my role varied from concept generator, curator, commissioner, lead artist, project manager, consultant, fundraiser and evaluator. I enjoy motivating and providing inspiration to others and have developed excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills through working alongside partners and the public in various settings.

Open since Oct 2014, The Staiths Cafe has become a hub for the local community and a destination for visitors to the local area of the Gateshead Quays and Dunston Staiths. Our local economy and sustainability (business and environmental) is important to us:We currently provide direct employment for 18 local peopleWork with local suppliers and stock North East based art, design, homewares and food products in our small retail section We applied for a grant to install solar panels on our roof and also own part of a Scottish wind farm. We are signed up to the refill water scheme, installed bike racks to encourage cyclists, offer Vegan options and recycle whatever we can. We support various local charities through either annual sponsorship or raffle prize schemes, host an annual food bank collection and offer free space for local groups to meet for activities such as Yoga, Meditation and volunteers of the The Friends of Dunston Staiths. We operate a 'Pay it with a Post It' pay it forward scheme in which we match donations from customers and donate to local charities such as FACT, Tiny Lives and Dunston Help for Families. We work and collaborate with others successfully - examples such as; commissioning artists to create designs for our paper cups, organising pop-up events to allow up and coming businesses a chance to expand their networks whilst providing something new for our customers. We also cross promote with local groups, events and businesses such as The Friends of Dunston Staiths, North East Lads and Dads group and Hot Pod Yoga Gateshead.
