I am a Partner in the Business Law group at McCarthy Tétrault, where I sit on the firm's governing Board of Partners and serve on the Board of Directors of the McCarthy Tétrault Foundation.My practice is focused on private mergers and acquisitions, private corporate finance and general corporate matters, particularly in the power industry. My experience in the power industry includes acting for: NextEra Energy Canada, LP in connection with its spinoff of 7 wind energy projects and 3 solar energy projects to NextEra Energy Partners, LP; North America’s largest energy transportation and distribution company in connection with the acquisition of a majority interest in, and the construction of, a 99 MW wind farm; and North America's largest owner and operator of wind and solar electricity generating facilities in connection with the acquisition of a 125 MW wind farm.I led the energy team that was awarded with Project Finance’s 2013 North American Single Asset Deal of the Year award in recognition of its work on Goreway Power Station’s July 2013 C$832 million refinancing of its credit facilities. Outside of my client work, I served as managing editor of McCarthy Tétrault's "Doing Business in Canada", a legal guide to establishing or acquiring a business in Canada.
