I am responsible for 65+ children on a daily basis before and after school hours. Besides performing routine tasks to ensure that the children have all been accounted for, gotten their snacks, completed their homework, etc., I organize and lead recreational (and sometimes educational) activities so that we can have as much fun as possible! I also attend regular inservice hours that cover a broad range of topics, including CPR, child abuse awareness, health, and first aid.

I developed and implemented a strategic marketing plan to promote our campus's non-profit organization: The Institute for Civic Engagement. During my internship with ICE, I created and launched a campus-wide community service campaign that challenged students to contribute at least one act of community service once a week for one month. The results of the campaign: 300 participants, 7 local community agencies served, and over 2,000 volunteer hours reported. To launch the campaign, I organized and participated in a flashmob consisting of about 50 UTM students at a homecoming event. I created after-school, service learning, and mentoring partnerships between the University of Tennessee and local Title 1 schools and after school programs. As I created these partnerships, I collected and maintained extensive and readily available data from my contacts for Tennessee Campus Compact. In addition to my paid duties with AmeriCorps, I completed 130+ hours of direct community service at a summer program for low-income children, where I lead a variety of activities, including hip-hop dance, story-telling, recreational games, and hands-on science lessons.

I operated equipment to broadcast classes at UT Martin to off-campus locations to provide distance learning to institutions in the surrounding area. I regularly compiled incident reports to identify trouble-shooting problems with equipment.
