In addition to the duties mentioned below, as the gift processing supervisor, I am responsible for overseeing the general work and schedule of the gift processing analysts, training both new and current employees and conducting performance evaluations. I also participate in our annual audit, write monthly reports for the Director of Donor Services, and work with representatives from other departments to clarify, improve and modify processes and workflows. A major part of my role from 2021-2023 was devoted to transitioning our department to both a new online giving platform and a new donation scanning system. These were both major changes that were fraught with technical challenges but well worth the effort. Our efficiency has improved significantly since implementing these new technologies.

Since the gift processing supervisor was planning to retire at the end of September 2021, I was asked to serve as her assistant in preparation for taking on her role after she retired. I was responsible for reviewing the daily bank statement and entering wire transfer/ACH gifts, maintaining the general ledger (Excel) and balancing with the Finance department, checking batches, and providing input regarding the hiring of new staff and the implementation of two new systems (a new online giving platform and a new donation scanning system). I also continued to perform many of the gift processing analyst responsibilities during this time.

In 2019 I felt God calling me something new and accepted a role as a part-time gift processing analyst in the Donor Services department of TWR, a global media ministry. I have loved using my administrative skills and attention to detail to support TWR’s mission of proclaiming the gospel to the whole world through mass media so that lasting fruit is produced. It has been a tremendous honor to serve in this way and have a “front row seat” to what God is doing around the world. As a gift processing analyst I was responsible for all aspects of gift processing which primarily included sorting mail into batches, scanning checks to the bank for deposit, and accurately performing data entry. In addition to these tasks I also processed credit card and EFT gifts, set up recurring gifts for donors, reviewed potential duplicate accounts, reviewed online gifts for proper coding, scanned checks and documentation to our stewardship team as needed, made changes/updates to donor accounts as needed, and processed and printed receipts. I frequently communicated with donors by phone, mail and email regarding various aspects of their giving or to respond to requests for information.

At Allcare I had the opportunity to provide pharmacy care services to a largely geriatric patient population with significant health and economic challenges. Many of these patients rely heavily on Allcare for medical advice, help with insurance, assistance with managing complex medication regimens, and delivery services. It was fulfilling to be able to assist the Allcare staff with meeting these needs.

After a season of staying at home with young children, I had the opportunity to return to practicing retail pharmacy in a rather unique setting — a combination pharmacy and hardware store. In this setting I took care of a largely geriatric patient population who had been familiar faces at the pharmacy counter for decades. My responsibilities included standard retail pharmacist activities (filling prescriptions, counseling patients, advising customers on OTC product selection, supervising technicians, ordering drugs and supplies, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy laws) in addition to handling general customer service issues and overseeing the front-end operation of the store.

When Target first entered the Cincinnati market in 1997, I was hired as a Pharmacy Team Leader to open a pharmacy in one of the new stores. My responsibilities included all aspects of setting up and managing the pharmacy; hiring and training support staff, marketing the pharmacy in the community, ordering prescription drugs and pharmacy supplies, dispensing medications, counseling patients, assisting and advising the store staff with OTC merchandising and partnering with the store executive team on store-wide, health-related events. I also launched Katy’s Kids, a medication safety program for young elementary school students. In 1998 I relocated to North Carolina, transferred my license, and accepted a position at the Target in Garner.

I began my professional career as a staff pharmacist at Bigg’s, a midwest grocery store chain. In this position I supervised the dispensing of prescription medications, counseled patients regarding prescribed drug therapy, answered questions, assisted in OTC product selection, trained pharmacy technicians, assumed responsibility for direct vendor purchasing, and assisted the chief pharmacist in OTC purchasing and merchandising responsibilities. I also aided in implementation of work flow changes to increase the level of pharmaceutical care, implemented an auto-replenishment system for ordering prescription drugs, assisted in the opening of a new pharmacy location, and initiated the Bigg’s Pharmacy asthma care program.
