Service Lead - Youth Justice & PreventionPositive Steps Jul 2013 - Sep 2021My role: Management of 26 staff, plus seconded staff and volunteers, the statutory and operational delivery across the Youth Justice Service, including budgets management and policy / procedures compliance Leadership of the statutory youth justice function, prevention and diversion, resettlement form custody and our support for victims of crime Responsible for a complex portfolio of commissioned and co delivered projects including getting out for good (girls and young women’s project), contextual safguarding pilot and specialist mentoring. Responsibility for Oldham highly successful return home interview service Member of Oldham safeguarding partnership and I sat on the local child safeguarding practice review panel. Lead for complex and contextual safeguarding and various other risk and safeguarding related forums. Charity led for safeguarding and Prevent Panel member.Achievements: My appointment was in response to HMIP Inspection in 2013 where there were significant improvements required across the service. In 2018 the HMIP inspection stated the vast majority of our work was ‘outstanding’. I led the post inspection improvement plan and service remodel. Managed our trauma informed service development, which saw a year-on-year reduction in reoffending over 4 years, reduced number of children in custody, improved sentencing outcomes and assessment quality. Missing from home service consistently maintained over 90% of return home interviews completed within 72 hours. Led audits across the local authority on harmful sexual behaviour focussing on local authority safeguarding practice. Invited member of the Youth Justice board Workforce Development Council. Youth Justice Case Manager/ Deputy ManagerTrafford Council Jan 2008 - Jul 2013Manchester, United Kingdom Effectively presented the service in Magistrate and Crown Courts as Court Officer Clear and concise decision making on sentencing recommendations along with thorough assessments consistently gained praise from Magistrates and Judges on Pre-Sentence Reports Specialised in assessment of and intervention work with violent and sexual offenders. Praise received from parents on impact of the group intervention for violent young men I co designed. This work reduced frequency and seriousness of violent offences. Presented at MAPPA and other risk management forums. Supervised many young people and their families on successful resettlement from secure units or prisons to reduce reoffending. Manged the post court team and specialist group work programmes. Chaired high risk meetings related to young people and held professionals to account. Successfully implemented Spotlight partnership with Police for persistent and priority offenders across the borough to improve partnership working.
