One on one Education Mentor for students with learning disabilities. Providing vocational & academic mentorship for young adults transitioning from a variety of schools & classroom programs and still need valuable support to finish high school, get a diploma, seek post secondary opportunities, build confidence in a variety of social settings, and ultimately independent living.

Computer Technology teacher for grades K-8. Students were taught a blend of traditional computer skills such as keyboarding and information literacy. Students explored topics by writing, creating, and publishing with Microsoft Office. We explored a variety of programs to learn about writing code, computer safety and the ethical use of technology. I developed a series of metrics and rubrics to measure the effectiveness of my practice and student achievement. I also facilitated and administrated SBAC, Map, and STAR testing for grades K-8. I maintained 30 seat PC Lab and assisted the IT Manager to help teachers and students with daily technology issues.

I am the library media specialist for a grade 7-12 school of almost 1000 students. I work as a single professional with no aide or faculty assistance. I am in charge of information literacy and computer based skills. I have had to automate the center after construction and renovation. With an aging print collection, I have made great strides in expanding our collection with donations from a business partnership with an independent bookstore which adds to the pleasure reading offerings. I have developed an interest in graphic novels and manga and have personally funded our graphic novel collection which is extremely popular with students. With a change in database access to geo-location, student use of databases and primary and secondary source references continue to grow. Continued collaboration with teachers with research targeted units are increasing and the quality of information content being incorporated into short and long term projects. I support students using Google Docs and Moodle. I have recently added Lexiles to automated library catalog to assist readers target books closest to their reading abilities.

I have had a wonderful year as president. Thanks to an outstanding executive board who made the job a very fulfilling one. Looking forward to my remaining year as ex-officio and seeing what exciting things will happen in 2009.
