Housing Worker
CurrentAs part of the SAMS team this describes what we do, this is taken from our website. The main aim is to provide and maintain a comfortable environment, in which people can live independently, in a community setting, by providing a housing management service. Care and support services are provided by other organisations or individuals within the tenants property, some of whom are based on-site. Offered are both shared and self-contained properties, with varying levels of support. The Sam's team I work within is friendly and experienced and are always on hand and happy to help with housing and tenancy issues. The service provided ensures that all properties are of a high quality. These are redecorated with some furniture provided. All maintenance to the property's are carried out by in house teams. Maintenance and provision of white goods is included in the service, i.e. cookers, washing machines, fridges etc. Regular health and safety checks are carried out by myself and the team on the building and on any equipment provided by SYHA, these are all done 6 monthly. Tenants are always involved in decisions about their home as much as possible. As housing workers we are allocated certain areas and will help with anything related to the housing management of their property. In return, we ask them to comply with the terms and conditions of their tenancy agreement and to co-operate and engage with staff, support providers and contractors. Working with multi agencies is essential within our roles. I am a forward thinking person who is approachable and adaptable. I have worked in many sectors of SYHA and have thoroughly enjoyed all of the challenges each and every department faces and I feel over that time I have forged strong links with my peers and stakeholders. I am proud to be part of an organisation that delivers a high quality service with a person centred approach. I feel I am growing alongside a company that is developing and growing in such an upredictable climate.
