I made a unique career transition from art to science – namely, from the film and TV industry to Biological Physics. I have shown that I can generate results in new fields despite not having any previous knowledge or experience. Some selected accomplishments include:• Imaged the first ever time-resolved sideview series of micro-bubbles near a boundary, which shows with exceptional clarity the details of aspherical bubble formation.• Generated low-density plasmas in deionized water using low-cost sub-nanosecond laser microbeams. Previously, this was considered the exclusive realm of the extremely costly and high-maintenance femtosecond lasers.• Proved experimentally that laser-induced bubble dynamics can vary dramatically according to the media composition in which bubbles are generated. This disproved the previous assumption that bubble dynamics are identical in all media regardless of addition of any salts, dyes, and amino acids.• Optoinjected adherent cells using sub-nanosecond laser microbeams. • Completed the coursework for B.S. in Physics (at UCLA) in just 2 ½ years without any prior physics background. • Earned Ph.D. in Physics with a specialty in biophotonics – lasers applied to problems in biology.• Wrote and directed “The Healing Secret” as part of feature-length film anthology.• Worked as second assistant director, talent coordinator and production coordinator.In addition, while preparing to return to school, I worked at Rustic Canyon Partners as an executive assistant. Having transitioned from art to science, I speak both “languages” and am skilled in finding both compelling stories in the material and creative solutions to complex problems. I seek opportunities where I can utilize my experience in science, art and business.
