The Philadelphia Zoo is America's oldest zoo and a wonderful place to connect with nature in a big city. Its beautiful Victorian era architecture houses over 1,300 rare and endangered animals. The best thing about working at the zoo is being able to take a walk and watch Tony the Rhino tossing his favorite log.Back at the office, I organize the major gifts pipeline, from identifying promising supporters, to recommending solicitation and stewardship strategies. My biggest accomplishment has been to create new methods of tracking and projecting donor engagement and fundraising success.

This foundation supports the fundraising needs for West Chester University, the largest university in the PASSHE system. We serve over 17,000 students by raising money for capital projects, scholarships, and special programs and services.My role at the foundation was to manage the Prospect Research department. I provided gift officers strategic research, portfolio analysis, performance metrics, and due diligence information. I made creative use of analytics to discover new prospects and gain insight into our donor pool One of the best parts of this position was finding great new prospects for the major gifts officers and hearing how excited these prospects were to become engaged.

I provided detailed research to support Development activity on behalf of museum initiatives. A day of work for me might involve running an Access or Crystal report to review a portfolio with a gift officer, reading a company's proxy statement, browsing annual reports for unusual activity, and thinking of opportunities to use our information strategically. The museum is a wonderful institution and I am proud I had an opportunity to support it. Plus I got to see the basement before the construction project!

Taught Introduction to Archaeology over multiple semesters to smaller ( <40 student) classes. This last time I was able to introduce a pseudoscience module, which the students really enjoyed. Bosnian pyramids indeed!

For my dissertation, I conducted a long-term archaeological research project in India and wrote a 300 page dissertation and numerous public presentations on related subjects. I was awarded a $10,000 research fellowship from the American Institute of Indian Studies to conduct research and received additional travel awards from the Department of Anthropology.The dissertation is based on literature review and qualitative data, which I translated to quantitative data through coding and statistical analysis.

Coordinated and instructed group reading sessions; reviewed library resources and edited student papers.

Created websites for use as study tools in History of Art courses; liaised between instructors and the Fine Arts Slide Library.

Independently developed curriculum for Art History: Tribal Arts. It was a great opportunity to expose students to non-canonical works of art from around the world.

In order to explore my interest in fundraising, I volunteered for the museum Development Office. I researched donor prospects for the African Section, assisted with drafting and editing a grant proposal submitted to Institute of Museum and Library Services, and updated donor and membership records in Raiser's Edge.
