Suzy Lee is a compassionate and authentic champion of community building in the philanthropic sector. Her professional interests include cultivating a growth mindset in sector leadership, supporting people-centered learning experiences, and the philosophical underpinnings of public governance.As a leader on the Forefront (Illinois) Program Team, she is responsible for developing, managing, and evaluating trainings, workshops, and other capacity building and professional developmentprograms for all Forefront constituents, including operating nonprofits, grantmakers, as well as opportunities to engage and support the community statewide. In collaboration with Forefront Members and stakeholders, she works to advance Forefront’s mission and vision. Suzy previously served as the Senior Manager of Children’s Nutrition Policy at the Greater Chicago Food Depository, leading the Illinois No Kid Hungry campaign and helping to craft and pass school breakfast legislation in Illinois in 2016. Prior to that, Suzy served as the Vice-Chair of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program Association and was responsible for policy research, program evaluation, and development. Suzy actively volunteers for many organizations, serving a 3-year board term with Young Nonprofit Professionals Network Chicago, and in 2019 was recognized as one of Chicago Women in Philanthropy's volunteers of the year. She holds a B.A. in philosophy from Hanover College, and an M.P.A. from DePaul University School of Public Service. When she’s not working or volunteering, you can find her in her garden, trying a new ice-cream recipe, or playing outside with friends and family.
