DirectorCritical Ecology Lab Jan 2020 - Aug 2022While we understand that society is uneven, and inequality is systemic, little is clear about how social patterns have brought about the ecological and climate crises we face today. We weave together basic (or "Western") science techniques, critical social theory, and social/historical investigations to better understand how human ideology and action shape the functions of ecosystems, from the molecular to continental scales. We are modeling and demanding a new culture for academic science, wherein compassion, reparations mindsets, and humility fuel creative, emancipatory questions. -
