It’s been a rollercoaster of a ride since March 2020 but one thing that is a constant is that people issues outnumber task issues when looking at problems in the workplace. So, what are you seeing? People feeling overwhelmed trying to manage work life balance Individuals feeling they have less “steer” & direction Fractured working relationships creating tensionTeams feeling disconnected due to the hybrid style of working Teams feeling disjointed as the normal gelling process seen prior to the pandemic is no longer in place Difficult conversations being avoided as face to face meetings are limited As a learning & development specialist, I work with teams, managers & leaders to resolve people problems caused when teams are not working together effectively &/or where managers & leaders need support in ensuring their people are their personal best at work. This is done by : 🔹Profiling individuals: helping people understand themselves better🔹Mapping teams: helping teams see where the strengths are as well as identifying where there may be some friction 🔹Enabling leaders & managers: providing a skillset, mindset & process to get the best out of others I started my career as a nurse in the NHS & like many people was trained in the profession I had joined i.e. looking after patients. However, after qualifying I found myself running a busy ward which was based around the daily routine. That was the simple bit. I had no idea about how to get the best out of the team of people I was working with. I'd had no training to be a manager & floundered as unfortunately had found few positive role models to help me on my way. Added to that, the NHS was a hierarchical structure where position was power! During my learning journey I realised why I'd found managing others so difficult. I'm on a mission to empower people using two amazing models Insights Discovery & Liberating Leadership. Insights Discovery helps individuals & teams to improve performance through a better understanding of their behaviours & the impact on others. It's simple & provides a common language to help people understand others. Liberating Leadership dovetails beautifully with Insights Discovery providing a skill set, a mind set & a process for getting the best out of others.
