Conduct conservation and preservation activities for University Libraries, including Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) and circulating collections. This includes providing ongoing and proactive collections care, such as repairing and/or restoring damaged materials; writing condition/treatment reports and photographing items pre- and post-treatment; and preserving collections, including environmental monitoring, constructing custom-fitted enclosures, and regular observation of collections; engaging in preservation, conservation, and disaster planning, such as by collaborating with SCUA curators and archivists to develop preservation and conservation treatment plans; and providing resources for disaster prevention and response, including evaluating damaged materials, determining conservation strategies, and implementing treatments; as well as developing and leading preservation-related outreach, including teaching book repair workshops, writing a blog, maintaining social media presence, providing preservation advice at departmental outreach events, and teaching letterpress printing, printing history, and bookbinding workshops for university students. In addition to core duties, participate in various library teams and committees currently and in the past, including Co-Lead of the EDI Team, Diversity Committee, two-year term as Staff Representative to the Administrative Advisory Group, co-founder and facilitator of the Anti-Racist Reading Group, and Tenure Attainment and Recognition Committee.

Create artist’s books, paper sculpture, prints, blank books, and leather goods. Operate an online shop and participate in local arts and crafts markets. Teach workshops and create custom items as requested. Artist’s books are held in various special collections libraries in the US.

Performed conservation treatments on books and paper items for clients such as the Supreme Court Library, Library of Congress, and Library of Virginia amidst many other institutional and private clients. Treatments included surface cleaning, washing, mending, stabilizing for digitization, encapsulation, guarding, deacidification, disbinding, rebinding, and creating custom enclosures, among other treatments as necessary. Maintained treatment records, assisted with lab maintenance, and assisted senior conservators as needed.

Funded by the National Park Service and Institute of Museum and Library Services Save America’s Treasures Grant, worked to conserve African American scrapbooks in the Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library (MARBL) collections. Assessed and treated issues such as stabilizing for digitization, mending, dry cleaning, tape removal, encapsulating, rebinding, and rehousing. Created condition/treatment reports, photographed items pre- and post-treatment, recorded treatment statistics, and coordinated with MARBL and Digitization staff. Wrote blog entries for Emory’s Scholar Blog about some of the scrapbooks and their treatments.

Coordinated the educational programs of the studio including managing the year round class schedule, hiring instructors, publicizing studio classes and events, overseeing class registration, ordering and inventory of supplies, and course evaluations. Planned education events and collaborations in the community, including lectures and demonstrations as well as workshops for children and adults that promoted the fine art of printmaking. Taught classes and workshops in letterpress printing, bookbinding, hand papermaking, and paper sculpture both in the studio and in the community.

Provided faculty support for instructional technology, including answering questions about the learning management system and other instructional technologies as well as problem solving any issues with both faculty and students. Performed testing of updates to instructional technology tools. Assisted with workshops and other faculty development activities.

Developed syllabus and overall course structure, conducted lessons, demonstrations, critiques, and administered all grades for an undergraduate entry level design course.

Taught a variety of studio art courses, including Advanced Placement Studio Art, as well as served on numerous committees and in various extracurricular roles, such as Mentor Teacher, Diversity Committee, and Outdoor Education Chaperone. Additionally, guided and advised approximately 100 girls in the class of 2011 (2007-2010), including monitoring student progress, conducting annual parent conferences, problem-solving education-related issues with teachers and students, and facilitating grade level events and activities.

Taught a variety of courses, including introductory studio art, Advanced Placement Studio Art, ceramics, digital imaging, and life skills, as well as serving in various other capacities such as department chair, Student Leadership Co-Coordinator, Scheduling and Facilities Committee Chair, Budget Committee member, and Tobacco Use Prevention Educator.
