I am excited to use my technical expertise to solve energy access challenges in Indigenous communities. As a co-founder of Native Renewables, I am able to implement programs to address the lack of electricity for 15,000 families on Navajo Nation and empower families with the knowledge to sustain off-grid photovoltaics (PV) systems. My recent nomination and 2019 C3E Entrepreneurship award encourages me to continue on the path of entrepreneurship and contributing to my community. I am a mechanical engineer with a PhD. Spending time on the Diné (Navajo) reservation instilled the importance of energy efficiency and water conservation. The lack of running water and electricity makes me appreciate these conveniences and inspire my work in energy in Native communities.
