WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Unix, MSE, WindowsKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:To design and create software for the Engineering and Operations teams at Telstra in order to automate aspects of the telecommunication network's upkeep, such as creating a new node in the network, detecting network errors, or updating network software without interrupting customer service.To create urgent solutions to counter-act flaws in the network's software, as the need arose.KEY ACHIEVEMENTS:Designed and created a tool to provide the Telstra Engineering team with the configuration data required to add a new node into the Telstra network – requiring gaining extensive knowledge of the network's architecture; the design, creation and population of a relational database back end; and the design and creation of a web-based front end for user access, data entry capabilities, and graphic visualisation of the network's connections. [ Perl, PHP, XHTML, DHTML, DOM, Javascript, CSS, MySQL ]Designed and created a tool to provide the Telstra Operations team with an interactive daily network audit of two core telecommunications platforms, outlining exact locations of errors in the network's configuration, the impact of each error, and graphic summaries of the results. [ Perl, PHP, XHTML, DHTML, DOM, Javascript, CSS, XML, AJAX ]Developed many emergency solutions, within very short time periods, to counter-act flaws in the Telstra network's software while waiting for a new version to be released by the proprietors. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Mac OS-XKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:To transform a collection of scattered redundant customer data into a non-redundant source of data with user-intuitive access.KEY ACHIEVEMENTS:Designed, created and populated a relational database to house all customer details and business exchanges; created a series of cross-platform web pages in order to edit, upload, maintain and summarise data; integrated the database with the existing website in order to collect new data direct from web submissions; and produced comprehensive documentation to accompany the project.
