Managed 4 teams of Reuters technical support 40+ staff providing front line problem resolution for high profile media and financial clients over 20+ highly flexible digital data delivery services & products. Specialist product team supported top priority clients with client relationships as fundamental success factors. Distribution team, maintained system revisions and upgrades remotely across EMEA clients, Media team assured 24hr availability of the picture library and enhanced client satisfaction via close attention to customer needs and main tech support handled 1000s calls weekly within demanding response and resolution targets. 2nd level, network management and sales & client training liaison, new product development & testing, team recruitment, coaching, performance management, training and development. Disaster recovery planning, facilities management and team scheduling & shift resourcing.

Following the completion and global roll out of the Facilities system I created a new cross functional team with the aim of ensuring the integrity of that system through continuous process and data quality evaluation and control. Throughout all European business divisions we identified opportunities to reduce data corruption, recover costs associated with poor data entry, process failures and actual service cost recovery, such as failure to cease lines where we identified near $4M in the first 18 months.

As technical lead on the project board, I took European responsibility to ensure time cost and quality was priority by directing the deployment of a 3 year £30M end to end facilities & equipment system through audit, data collection and system development. I worked closely with project directors, country managers, programme managers, finance and US developers, to recruit and train 50+ engineers and 50+ system programmers plus implementation and 12 months management of a central programming office in Amsterdam.

MFS; the first local provider of business grade telecommunication products such as ATM, Frame relay, FDDI, Fast Ethernet through its own fiber rings in major central business districts across Europe bypassed incumbent local exchange carriers and their high prices. As a field engineer the key priority was to provide timely 24/7 problem management and support of all data centres, fibre networks and client site faults to major financial and media organisations across their core telecom and data services. Other responsibilities ranged from recruiting and training engineers, service installations, client technical consultation, departmental documentation, quality process and product diagnostics, CRM practices including KPI's and SLAs for internal and external customers as well as electronically standardising and transferring all technical provisioning records from paper files.

Life testing, stability, temperature and drop testing to meet demanding customer standards of reliability over 25 years or more. Establishing production weaknesses and finding creative solutions including production methods, clean room standards and staff training. Fully documented results safely recorded and stored for evidence.

4-year apprenticeship with 2 year intensive inhouse electronics and mechanical training plus placements across various site divisions entailing, production line manufacture and test of MOD long range battle ready radio, Capacitors quality assurance, Stock and store room control and supply, CAD, integrated circuit and central office projects, time in motion study, and night sight testing.
