Producing products for the home featuring my illustration under the brand name Urban Bird.Contributing to the workshop programme in textile & sublimation print at Badger Press, Bishop's Waltham. With my husband Graham Brown an architect we run an annual Pop Up Design Shop hosting the work of a changing selection of designers, design companies and designer makers selected from all over the UK in Winchester City Centre. We often have a book publisher, Tokyo Bikes, ceramics, fashion, jewellery, home accessories and one or two small companies doing interesting work from overseas.We are hoping to develop this to enable more shops in different parts of the UK using vacant spaces as it is a great platform for sharing the diversity and merit of contemporary design and work by growing designers/design companies who produce great quality work and take it to market without the budget of a big brand. Often producing the work themselves or through use of UK manufacture which makes unit costs higher.Specialties: Marrying the aesthetics of presentation to the product.Ability to realise a number of varied projects at the same time. A rich imagination.

Retailer of contemporary designed goods sourced from British designer makers including Urban Bird and international companies through a temporary lock up shop. Liaison with designers on the offer, on goods in and out. Visual display of merchandise, marketing of event. Customer liaisons and sales. This pop up shop event and concept may be revised in the future, it was a very successful model and very enjoyable. We have been very proud of the work we have been able to share with the public.

Following a return to education and a choice to redirect my career towards developing use of my own creativity and design skills at the end of a very busy period in my twenties! I studied for an MA in Illustration at Camberwell to develop more image based work, I combined my studies over two years part time with various live projects, I set up the brand Urban Bird and had employment as follows using my teaching qualification as aLearning Resources Assistant – London College of Fashion Part time three evenings per week.Learning Support Assistant – Westminster Adult Education Service, Camberwell College of Arts, Central Saint Martins School of Arts.

From initial script read through to opening night, working with the designer and production team to satisfy the costume needs of a production every six weeks.Measuring actors, shopping and sourcing a selection of garments and accessories that could be road tested with actors in relation to their character, personal self and the requirements of the production. Team work, resourcefulness, problem solving, use of time and management skills, maintaining good relationships with all were key features. A very enjoyable job! :>

Dressing models for S/S and A/W collections for two years with London Fashion Week for designers Betsy Johnson, Paul Smith, John Rocha and Red or Dead. 1999 Alexander McQueen show with Shalom Harlow but not for the spray paint dress! Although this was very nice to catch a glimpse of from behind the back stage curtain! A lovely experience to appreciate the tailoring, coiffuring and team work that goes with the creative parade magnifique that is the fashion world!
