Cia Rates Transition Manager & Systems / Asset Accountant
This role involves managing the CiAnywhere Rates module migration from within the Finance Team under a secondment to the Knowledge Management Team. Working with the business to ensure a smooth and stress free implementation of a new rating systemMy role also includes the end to end processing of Asset Transactions within TechnologyOne's CiAnywhere platform. This involves implementing strong validation controls for financial asset data across the Management Accounting team, the Financial Accounting team and the Infastructure Data team all the way through to producing the Asset Financial Statements for the Annual Report and taking ownership around conversations with auditors around audit time.
Systems Accountant
On my return to Queenstown Lakes District Council, I rounded off the migration of our 3 Waters Asset Register to Technology One, which involved the design, testing, documentation and implementation of Fixed Asset Accounting processes. Within this role I covered the BAU for Asset Accounting which includes processing asset capitalisations from physical works, vested assets, depreciation and Property Transactions. A fundamental aspect of the role is around Infrastructure Revaluation. This involves the processing of and the reconciliation of revaluations, along with being the liaison for audit and a central point of contact between the financial team and the infrastructure valuers.Using systems for continuous process improvement in other areas of the business such as the Rates team.As the business rolls out TechnologyOne's CiAnywhere solution, this role has become increasing involved in ensuring that each module coming out has beneficial impact on the Financial team.
Business Consultant
At TechnologyOne I worked on ERP software implementations for the Asset Lifecycle Management product suite throughout the Project Lifecycle. This would include; assisting with design verification through workshops customers, documentation of solution design, software configuration, key user configuration training, testing and Go-Live support. All of these stages required liaison with consultants for other products within the TechnologyOne offering, as well as close working relationships with project managers.
Senior Systems Analyst, Asset Planning Team, Property & Infrastructure
During my time as a Senior Systems Analyst, I have recommended a 10 year Asset Information Systems Programme to ensure the department's future system needs are met over the current Long Term Plan. The plan was built by interrogating the QLDC's Infrastructure 10 year plan and interviewing members of the Property & Infrastructure team. My business analysis skills and experience were put into play to gather requirements and suggest first cuts of scopes to be agreed on with stakeholders. Systems analysis was required for recommending solutions. In 2017, I delivered a system to allow the department to put together an auditable Financial Programme for the 10 year Capital Works programme. We used a TechnologyOne module to create the solution. The solution design, testing, documentation, training and implementation was all managed by me. The end product has resulted in on going cost savings and efficiency increases for the organisation. My role focusses on extending my Business Analysis skills to larger projects requiring software solutions. A good example of this would be our Point of Entry to Business Case process, which required some complex process mapping. The current focus for my skills is a project to migrate all of our 3 Waters Assets from a legacy system into TechnologyOne. The project requires a high level of understanding of business processes that run across other departments and teams, with a particular focus on the integrations with the GIS and finance teams.Within QLDC, I also support users of TechnologyOne products such as Works & Asset Management, Contract management and Enterprise Budgeting. We also strive for continuous improvement of the way we use our systems and I encourage users to tell me their system woes!
Business Analyst
As a business analyst embedded in the Infrastructure department of QLDC, I gained a broad knowledge of the system related challenges users are presented with on a day to day basis within the organisation and improved many of these through system configuration. Paired with an ever increasing understanding of 3 Waters and Property related processes in the local government space, I have been able to scope and define valuable solutions contributing to significant business process improvements.QLDC use TechnologyOne as their corporate enterprise system, which has given me the opportunity to foster a very good understanding of multiple modules including Works and Asset Management, Contracts and Enterprise Budgeting as well as a good working knowledge of other areas such as Financial Integrations and Property & Rating. Having proficiency with ETLs, XLOne reporting tools and Dashboard Analytics has also enabled me to add value to the business. My role involved significant effort in building relationships with other departments to get the best out of our system processes across functional teams (such as finance). My work also resulted in the relationship with the software supplier to a place where QLDC were supported and encouraged towards the best use of the TechnologyOne product.During my time as a Business Analyst, I succinctly scoped out the requirements for an auditable system that would allow multiple teams and departments to collate their recommendations for the Capital Works Financial Investment plan. I also scoped out the requirements for a Property Asset Management system which would require the implementation of multiple modules from the TechnologyOne product suite.
