Building the Variational Inverse Control using Events (VICE) algorithm on top of Vanilla Policy Gradient using Garage, Mujoco, Gym and PyTorch under the guidance of Dr. Matei Ciocarlie in the Robotic Manipulation and Mobility Lab. The original algorithm is built on top of the Soft Actor-Critic algorithm.Updated the current repository to be compatible with the latest version of Garage. After the rebasing, worked on the code files for VICE in PyTorch and wrote tests for the algorithm.Created various goal conditioned half cheetah environment in Mujoco and Gym to train the half cheetah using the Proximal Policy Optimization algorithm to hover over a randomly generated goal. This environment was used as the expert to train VICE (an imitation learning algorithm). Built the data collection pipeline to gather expert data, wrote code files for VICE and tested the algorithm with a variety of hyperparameters.

Building an autonomous vacuum robot for the sidewalks of New York City with the guidance of Dr. Hod Lipson in the Creative Machines Lab.Working on the detailed designing, optimization and analysis of the bot to operate on sidewalks and rough terrain along with electronic circuit design and implementation.Integrating the chassis with a LiDAR, camera and various other sensors and implementing SLAM, Computer Vision, Navigation and Motion Planning algorithms to detect debris and compute a collision-free path to collect the debris.Worked on the simulation of the system using ROS and Gazebo.

Designed and carried out the analysis of an Augmentative Cable-driven Robotic Upper-body Exoskeleton to help mitigate fatigue in the shoulder muscles of industrial workers doing repetitive overhead tasks with the guidance of Professor Yu Haoyong.Studied existing exoskeletons and with help of Solidworks designed the kinematic chain to support each arm of the user along with the active cable-driven shoulder joint with 3 degrees of freedom to support a payload of 10kgs per arm and the body harness to distribute the load from the shoulder muscle to the entire upper body. Carried out force analysis, calculated load distribution and factor of safety using Solidworks and ANSYS. Further, did Kinematic analysis in MATLAB to carry out motion study, calculate the range of motion and accessibility of the end effector.The novelty of this exoskeleton was that it was an active exoskeleton actuated remotely using series elastic actuators and Bowden cables and was very light-weight compared to other active exoskeletons.

Carried out simulations of injection molding of Jute reinforced polypropylene in the software MOLDEX by varying different parameters such as nozzle temperature, feed rate, mold design, percentage of jute in polypropylene, etc.Created various samples of jute reinforced polypropylene using the Milacron Nova Injection Molding machine. Characterized the material for its properties using the UTM to carry out load analysis in ANSYS.Created samples with various samples of the material with various amounts of jute reinforced in polypropylene and carried out mechanical tests to get properties such as tensile strength and flexural strength.Compared the data regarding jute reinforced polypropylene and 100% polypropylene to make conclusions for mechanical properties of the composite material.
