About Sven De Jong

I bring 16 years of higher education experience to BD&E, having served at both public and private institutions. During my higher education career I oversaw the areas of advancement, enrollment management, financial aid and marketing. I executed institutional branding campaigns, capital campaigns and enrollment initiatives. Over my career I served as the Senior Vice President and Interim President at Bethany College and understand well the challenges that many higher education institutions face in a time of increased competition, decreased budgets and changing student demographics.Prior to serving in higher education, I spent over 8 years in the financial services sector having held series 6, 7, 63, life and health insurance licenses. My strong knowledge and appreciation for the financial services sector and how technology is impacting customer interactions with organizations helps inform my decision making. As a graduate of Bethany College in West Virginia, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Economics and German, and a Master of Science degree from Eastern University in Non-Profit Management. It has always been important to me to be involved in my community, having served for over 15 years as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and as Mayor of the Town of Bethany. I served on the Board of The Neighborhood Academy, and am actively involved with UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
