As senior project leader at Chalmers, Dept. of Technology Management and Economics, I researched, teached and acquired projects related to the ICT, media and content industries: their innovations, business models, industry dynamics, economics and policy. e.g. in a project related to the socio-economic impact of broadband quality.Chalmers is one of Sweden’s leading technological universities. The department of Technology Management and Economics conducts research within areas such as logistics, innovation, entrepreneurship, industrial marketing and quality sciences.

At iMinds-SMIT/VUB I was researching ICT and media industries: their innovations, business models, industry structure, industrial competitiveness, and sustainability. Impact assessment. Main tasks included: - Project acquisition, project delivery and project management. I participated in, acquired and successfully completed some 20 European, regional and company specific research and consulting projects sometimes in project or sub-project management roles, always in collaboration Flemish and international companies or research organisations (in the fields of e.g. Media and Content industries, Movie industry, Smart energy, 3D printing).- Leading methodological development (e.g. in business modelling, value network analysis, impact assessment) (2010-2013)- Publication and other dissemination. (some 9 published papers and book, 25 research reports and project deliverables, 18 conference papers)- Coaching, supervision and supporting the work of junior researchers.SMIT (Studies on Media, Information and Telecommunication - http://smit.vub.ac.be/ ) is a research centre (situated at the VUB – the Free University of Brussels) that specializes in social scientific research on media and ICT, with an emphasis on innovation, policy and socio-economics. It is part of iMinds – Flanders' digital research centre and business incubator (http://www.iminds.be/en).

Main tasks: Conducting and coordinating research in support of EU policy (innovation in and competitiveness of the European ICT sector) in the Information Society Unit.At IPTS, I was involved in four major research projects with other parts of the EC as customers (DG INFSO (now Connect), DG ENTR (now Growth) and JRC. These projects dealt with the R&D and innovative capabilities of the European ICT sector, the European position in emerging (potentially) disruptive technologies (e.g. Web 2.0, displays, robotics, RFID and embedded SW); and an exploratory study of social computing.Additional activities: Project management, interaction with customers, interaction with contracted research organisations, evaluations of deliverables, inter-service consultations, drafting tender specifications, dissemination (conferences and workshops), publishing and editing reports and papers, and workshop organisation.Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS - https://ec.europa.eu/jrc/en/institutes/ipts ) is one of the European Commission’s (EC) Joint Research Centres (JRC). JRC-IPTS provides research-based evidence in support of European policy making. Its Information Society (IS) Unit (where I worked) supports the ECs Digital Agenda, e.g. the Digital Economy, Digital Single Market and conducts industrial analysis of the ICT sector.

After completing my Ph.D., I worked at Chalmers, with increasing responsibilities, in the field of Management and Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics, focusing on the ICT sector.At the start, I was involved in research projects related to Innovation Systems and the telecom industry and in education (lecturing, supervising case work and Master theses). Gradually I acquired and managed projects of my own, e.g. for the EC, for Vinnova and for Swedish industry and started publish based on these projects and my thesis. I also developed and successfully ran a completely a new course. Eventually I took on the responsibility of heading the IEM department (circa 10-12 persons), alongside being an assistant professor, taking part in supervising PhD students, and engaging in professional education and consulting (see below)
