Sven is a cultural producer and a specialist advisor in architectural design innovation and activation for the built environment. He develops research, strategies and action plans for architectural teams, local authorities, commercial developers and responsible investors. Sven’s work follows the premise that developments need to truly serve their residents and should be designed and delivered with end users in mind. If done successfully, developments will generate social and cultural capital beyond financial return.Sven has developed a holistic approach that spans place analysis (Gehl studies, geospatial, cultural), co-creation with clients and local residents and delivery, often being embedded in design and planning teams throughout the acquisition and planning process (Riba stages 0-7). He primarily works on visions, narratives, repurposing and commercial space strategies, public realm and cultural use cases for large, complex and heritage sites and masterplans.Sven has worked with a range of clients from a small Housing Association in Northern Wales to key European developers and local authorities in Greater London. Sven recently developed the Strategic Handbook for Brent Cross South (Related Argent), the ground activation strategy for the historic Central Saint Martins building in Holborn (unanimous consent by LB Camden) and is part of a team developing a strategic pilot project for The Crown Estate. Sven has been an Associate Lecturer for architecture (MArch) at Central Saint Martins since 2017. He has worked in strategic roles for a range of cultural organisations including the Royal Academy of Arts and Dulwich Picture Gallery. He was a co-founder and Director of Bold Tendencies, Franks Cafe and Peckham Refreshment Rooms. Sven is Founding Director of the regeneration consultancy Beispiel Ltd and served as Non-Executive Director of Pangaea Sculptors’ Centre.
