Leading a strategic lean/digitalization ‘global first mover’ initiative to reduce operational waste, lead time and cost in connection with Maersk’s fleet of container vessels calling ports, more than 60,000 times a year.My team developed a new optimization concept, and the cloud and IOT solution to connect ships and shore real time. Deployed smartphones and a new app on 500 container vessels, and designed and implemented new processes in 7 regional operations centers.

Maersk Line Operations embarked on a Lean transformation journey, Future Operations Execution.During the program, I first lead the Operating System Workstream (the way we work), where we developed the concept and elements, for our new way of working when running and improving the business: Standard Work, Performance Management, Continuous improvement, Visual management, Project execution, training & skills, and the leadership behaviors to support it. The OS was successfully implemented with good results.Later in the program, I took the lead on ‘Global Improvement Cycles’. We developed the concept, and executed the cycles. My team delivered 4 global standardization and improvement projects/cycles (black belt level), and delivered significant cost savings:Cycle 1: Behavioral CostCycle 2: Empty Equipment Flow OptimizationCycle 3: Procurement ProcessesCycle 4: Establishing 24/7 Operations Centers Globally

As head of business performance, process excellence and projects, it was my job to implement a performance culture in Latin America Operations. We designed and implemented a sound strategy execution framework to cascade objectives to the regional operations office and the country organizations. . Over the years we tried various models, and finished with implementing 4 Disciplines of Execution, and we catapulted our performance.In this role I was also responsible for Operational Excellence and the Project Portfolio. We scoped, coached, executed and followed up on numerous improvement initiatives and projects., incl Green Belt projects and certifications.I was heavily engaged in organizational development, employee engagement initiatives, coaching of individuals, teams and leadership peers.During the last year, our results, culture and energy was recognized by HQ management, and this paved the road for me taking the workstream lead in the FOE program.

Maersk embarked on the Process Excellence journey in 2007, and in 2008 I took up the challenge as General Manager of Process Excellence (Lean/Six Sigma) in Panama City. Our organization achieved global role model status from C-level due to our successful training, implementation and transformation of the Caribbean Sea Cluster, consisting of 6 countries and 10 offices. During this time, we also coached and certified +10 local talents to successful project delivery and Green Belt certification.

Project Manager responsible for offshoring of numerous operational processes from Latin America, Sub Saharan Africa, Australia, Japan and South Korea to India, China and Philippines. I was responsible for identifying, scoping, preparing and executing the offshoring of processed from countries to Maersk Global Service Centers.

Project Manager responsible for design, development, test, implementation and support of a global business critical operations application, still in operation in 2019.

Responsible for the inventory control and flow management of +100,000 empty containers in Sub Saharan Africa.
