I was a founding member of the three-person Social Media department shortly after joining the company and focused on the launch of two branded blogs, which I essentially oversaw as editor. I was also a regular contributor to both, especially AHealthierMichigan.org, a blog focused on promoting healthy lifestyles, businesses, communities and health care systems. I helped manage our various social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Flickr, and I edited and contributed to MI Blues Perspectives, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan's official corporate blog. I helped build an audience of more than half a million page views in 2012 on A Healthier Michigan, which won the 2013 PR News Platinum Award for best blog. Also managed team of contributors and interns while leading regular meetings to plan content and teach strategies and tactics for writing for the web.Other duties included supervising a summer intern, assigning work and leading weekly one-on-one performance review/status update meetings; leading weekly editorial budgeting meetings with interns; writing and planning communications for the Office of National Health Reform; creating advertising copy; creating print and Web marketing materials for wide range of audiences; contributing ideas to an enhanced newsroom website; crafting alerts for sales agents and strategic communication plans for internal and external audiences.
