My current role is that of a Senior C# Software Engineer / Analyst. By using C# and Microsoft SQL 2000 & 2008, I am responsible for writing bespoke C# WinForms client/server applications. Working in a team of 7 other programmers - team work and communication is paramount in order to get larger projects finished on time and to specification.

6 Month Contract Position:Working for their sister company CareShop in Bolton, my main role was creating & maintaining MI reports for staff, senior management and “The Board”. The reports were mainly created using Excel with VBA code and embedded SQL, although Cognos PowerPlay, Cognos Impromptu and Crystal Reports v11 are also utilised where possible. Together with the Microsoft SQL Server backend database, I would analyse the data and present in a clear, understandable and concise manner. During my time, I also managed to utilise my C# skills to create applications to help produce reports in various formats, where Excel simply wasn’t adequate enough for the task.

I started work with Ultraframe as a Junior Delphi Developer / Analyst – and after 6 years I became a respected and knowledgeable member of the development team, having written systems across all aspects of the business from Sales, Finance & Warehousing (Manufacturing, Picking and Transport). By using the latest technologies at the time i.e. Delphi v5 - Enterprise together with Microsoft SQL Server v7 / 2000 and Oracle v8i, relational client-server bespoke database applications were created. The Clitheroe site is the only one with an in-house dedicated software team, which generates systems for our International sister companies (American, Canadian and European sites).Working for Ultraframe, I not only ported my Pascal skills to Delphi, I learnt to write both visual and non-visual components, and also learnt OOD, COM and DCOM technologies which now has become a way of life.My other important job roles include the position of Cognos Administrator which consisted of making sure that the business critical PowerPlay Cubes were generated on time. I also looked after the Cognos Impromptu catalogs and generated reports for managers and supervisors alike which were generally used for board reports (KPI’s).
