Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine), Chisinau (Moldova)

International residency program "Reflections: Botanica / Positron" is implemented by two cultural organizations: UFRA from Ivano-Frankivsk and Young Artists Association Oberliht (Chișinău ). It aims at giving an opporunity for young artists and activists from Ukraine and Moldova to work with a public space of post Soviet neighborhoods in Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine) and Chișinău (Moldova) by means of art and culture. The participants of the residency spend one week in the cities of Chișinău and Ivano-Frankivsk. They work in residential neighborhoods of Positron in Ivano-Frankivsk and Botanica in Chișinău focusing on the topics of cultural infrastructure, social life, community organization, civic participation and common space of the residential districts.The residency appeals to establish or renew ties between cultural, social and urban activists of Ivano-Frankivsk and Chișinău, as well as between residents of the districts. The project promotes cultural decentralization (from the city center to the outskirts), developing of new forms of cultural activity in blocks areas of both cities and understanding the value of the city parts beyond the historical downtowns. The project also will develop discussion about the value of postcommunist legacy – not in streets’ names or monuments but in the very urban fabric.Participants develop their own projects that would help to uncover the creative potential of the local communities and inspire residents to solve the problems they face in their neighborhoods by helping them to self organize, find new ways of making their demands visible.http://ufra.com.ua/reflections

I co-researched cultural heritage of the place where town of Chervonohorod (Polish: Czerwonogród) used to be, and created an exhibition based on the findings. The exhibits are on display in Galatyga, a learning and cultural space in the village of Nyrkiv (13 Shevchenka Street, Nyrkiv, Zalishchyky Rayon, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine).
