A commercially driven Chartered Engineer with extensive experience in Senior Management roles, managing collaborative R&D, New Product Development, New Product Introduction and Business Development projects. These roles have involved leading and managing multi-disciplined project teams, large and small, working to controlled processes with fixed budgets and lead-times.Experienced in a wide range of demanding industrial sectors, including the Automotive tier 1 component supply chain, working with major OEMs Volvo, Aston Martin and Land Rover on new vehicle programmes. A period leading Business Growth and Investment activities within Sheffield’s Engineering and Manufacturing sector resulted in an extensive network of contacts being established across many industrial sectors, Universities, trade bodies and specialist support organisations. Successfully made a transition back into manufacturing, establishing a new function to manage the Development of new Plastic Drainage Products for the civil engineering industry. Made a further successful transition to the Aerospace sector, establishing a new R&D function to manage collaborative R&D Projects for a major manufacturer of metal fabricated components. These projects were aimed at developing new applications for a unique electro-chemical metal deposition process, including a technology transfer project within the Offshore Wind sector.A past Chairman of both the Yorkshire Region and the South Yorkshire Area of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and involved in a variety of STEM outreach and mentoring activities with local schools, colleges and Universities aimed at mentoring and developing the next generation of Engineering talent.
