Playing football at the University of Guelph while earning my undergraduate degree taught me a number of valuable lessons and skills, that have contributed to my development post-graduation. Balancing the time demanded by both scholastics and athletics requires a great deal of discipline and time management, something which I certainly prided myself on and that I have made a conscious effort to carry with me. There is also an element of self-motivation required to play varsity sports, and that has helped me immensely through my pursuit of my Masters degree at the University of Guelph. When not studying or training, my recreational passions lie in anything related to the outdoors and as such my academic interests follow a similar path. These interests along with innumerous other valuable life experiences garnered through my time at the University of Guelph have lead me to a passion for conservation and the sustainable use of our land and water resources. As such, my thesis work in assessing soil nutrients under different land use scenarios in Ontario's North ties in well with my passion for sustainability and the conservation of our outdoor spaces. In essence, my experiences in all facets of my life have led to my desire to work tirelessly for the preservation of Canada's natural resources, and I look forward to doing so throughout my career, while further developing all of the skills I've learned along the way.
