Hello! I’m currently in my final year of BTech Biotechnology, working as an undergraduate researcher in the Centre for Nanobiotechnology (CNBT) at VIT Vellore. I’m an avid learner and have a keen interest in pharmaceutical research and development, specifically in the fields of cancer biology, neurodegenerative diseases, and exploring novel methods of finding the cure to such diseases by integrating methods of computational biology and applying targeted drug delivery techniques, particularly using nano composites - while ensuring it’s all done in a sustainable manner.By the end of this year, I would have represented my university in two different countries - the United States and France. I had been selected among the top 10% applicants across select Indian universities to attend the Hopkins Engineering Exploratory Program (HEEP), in-person at the Homewood Campus of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, during June 2024. I will also be representing Team iGEM VIT Vellore in the Grand Jamboree in Paris during October 2024, and am the Design Lead for the same. My research acumen can be corroborated by my experience working in the labs of CNBT, where I have gained hands on experience on conducting various toxicity assays and formulating experimental protocols under the guidance of our research scholars and guide. My quest to incorporate sustainability into the R&D sphere started by presenting my abstract in the ICRABB 2023 Conference held by NIT Jalandhar, which discusses the potential of utilizing nanocellulose derived from rice husks generated as agricultural waste to develop biodegradable food packaging.Throughout my college years, I have been active in various clubs and chapters, such as a the likes of VIT Debate Society, Society for Biological Engineering, IEEE Women In Engineering and Sigma Xi, to expand my network and engage in their activities. I have also pursued 3 content writing internships to sharpen and apply my science communication skills. I have also debated and judged in several national level debate tournaments, held by premier universities such as IIT Madras, in order to hone by oratory and argumentative skills.
