Swayne is a First Officer for United Airlines on the Boeing 757/767. As a teenager from a family with no aviation background, Swayne's mission became to fill the gap of knowledge and help to inspire people not exposed to aviation-in person. By documenting his own training on YouTube and in writing, Swayne began to teach other aspiring pilots what to expect from each stage of flight training. He started writing for Boldmethod Pilot Training in 2014, where he's now a co-owner and editor. To kickstart his aviation career, Swayne attended the University of North Dakota and built his first professional flight experience by flying inter-island for Hawaiian carrier Mokulele Airlines. Today, Swayne's videos cover specific topics such as simulator training, pilot schedules, and lifestyle expectations to make the transition into airline flying straightforward. Each video is targeted to answer questions that students and instructors are not traditionally exposed to during flight school. Swayne produced the first series of 360-degree videos from the flight deck of an airline in the USA; these allow future pilots to virtually sit in the flight deck and experience the workflow that airline pilots handle every day. The resource he’s created is the first example of an airline-approved comprehensive view on becoming an airline pilot.
