Lead of Qualcomm R&D's Mobile Autonomous Robotics engineering project which develops machine vision, autonomous navigation, SLAM, flight control software and robotic hardware to create Qualcomm's roadmap for robotics. This roadmap includes Snapdragon Flight (http://bit.ly/1MAiEcc) and the FTC Control System (http://bit.ly/1OJhD0S) and has enabled OEMs and developers all over the world.

Managed a team of software engineers in the development of advanced Computer Vision-based, Augmented Reality user experiences on prototype and commercial Android devices.* Drove the development of “fastcv”, a highly-optimized, target-specific implementation of Computer Vision routines on ARM, Neon SIMD, and QDSP6 with outcomes that included an internal white paper recommending system-onchip architectures for Computer Vision and Augmented Reality, basis for the Vuforia SDK business case, and transfer to QCT division for commercialization.* Designed and steered development of multiple new, patent-pending, Augmented Reality tracking technologies that were commercialized in the Vuforia SDK; leveraged SLAM techniques to identify planar surfaces without prior knowledge of environment for table-top gaming use cases.* Led rapid prototype of emerging technologies for consideration of commercial potential on mobile smart phones and tablets including 3D Animated, Computer Vision-based, and Mobile Augmented Reality software.* Implemented SIFT, SURF and Ferns techniques for recognition and optical flow for tracking detection and augmentation using OpenCV, in-house computer vision library, and OpenGL.* 2D mobile sensor-based Augmented Reality and 3D mobile Virtual Reality.* Contributed heavily to the implementation and optimizations of techniques that achieved multiple target detection and tracking at 30FPS and WVGA resolution on commercial 1st generation Android smart-phones (circa. 2008).* Implemented the first AR plugin for Android mobile browser. Extensively involved in Android development utilizing SDK, NDK, and Android source tree.* Boosted stable and high-performing software implementations using Agile development and automated testing.* Supported CR&D Software Department’s software engineering best practices and CR&D Division’s university relations efforts steering collaborations with university labs and presenting at university research reviews.

Led the complete life-cycle development of EV-DO Rev A and EV-DO Rev B prototypes which were highly reliable, early integration devices for infrastructure partners and internal Cell-Site Modem (CSM) development.* Provided effective leadership to team of 10 software engineers with limited resources in the complex design and build EV-DO Rev B physical, MAC, and Application layer software. Participated in strategy, implementation and validation of software across all layers of air interface.* Collaborated with QCT division during a 12-month span to transfer EV-DO Rev B technology to MDM7800 commercial implementation.

Designed, executed and tested RF/Physical Layer, MAC Layer and Protocol Layer Software on pre-standard and prototypeterminal devices used for EV-DO Rev-A system test.* Managed project critical issues during the entire development and deployment cycle.* Implemented drivers and protocol software on Real-time Linux and VxWorks FPGA-based platforms.

One of first 30 engineers involved in EV-DO Prototype Terminals development, the first 3G data protocol and commercial service. Validated over 12 prototypes to advance state-of-the-art wireless technology.* Developed RF drivers and test software for EV-DO prototype terminals using VxWorks, COM, .Net, and TCP/IP.
