I am the Technical Program Director for the ACT Label at My Green Lab. As a Transportation Commissioner appointed by Alameda Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft, I vote on city projects related to pedestrian, bicycle, car and ferry transportation. This involves the review of technical documents and proposals, listening to community feedback in public meetings, suggesting changes to city transportation plans and infrastructure, and subcommittee work on the creation of the City of Alameda’s Mobility and Transportation Plan for 2022-2040.

As the elected President of Woodstock Homes Corporation, my responsibilities include overseeing the $1.3 million budget supporting 200 housing units in 83 buildings, chairing public and executive session meetings twice monthly, reviewing legal work performed for the Corporation, writing and editing proposed policies, and ensuring infrastructure changes conform to City of Alameda building and development codes.

I led the research and product development lab at Labcon, a manufacturer of plastic labware focused on reduced environmental impact, for seventeen years. In the lab my responsibilities included research on new and emerging techniques, the development of novel products, bench work and data analysis, and supporting the manufacturing floor with machine and product evaluation. In 2014, I worked with the Labcon facilities staff to design and build a new, larger, and reimagined laboratory. I collaborated closely with the Labcon sales team on customer technical consultations and opportunities, and I have extensive experience communicating with scientists, procurement, and lab personnel. My work led to several products that are unique in the biotech market and to patents for Labcon. I was an internal ISO auditor at Labcon, responsible for auditing multiple departments for compliance and improvement. I worked with the Labcon marketing department as the author or co-author of multiple pieces of literature each year, including literature highlighting Labcon’s environmental commitments, and I presented at conferences and biotechnology companies on behalf of Labcon. I was the lead project manager responsible for guiding Labcon-manufactured consumables through the ACT Label auditing process.

I organized and cohosted Nerd Nite East Bay, a once monthly live stage show in Oakland with speakers on science, history, music, and “other”, with an audience of 150-200 people. Responsibilities included speaker recruitment from Bay Area academic institutions, historical societies, social institutions, and technology companies. Additional responsibilities included on stage introductions and audience warm up, and I wrote all social media, website, and newsletter descriptions of events for marketing purposes as we grew to over 3000 followers on multiple platforms, with a newsletter audience of nearly 3000 unique contacts.

I taught the graduate level Bioinformatics and Biotechnology course in the Department of Computer Science, and the undergraduate level Genetics course in the Department of Biology at San Francisco State University. I was responsible for all course lectures and materials, and was recognized as the highest rated instructor multiple times.
