I like to take on the challenge of developing software for complex, dynamic and fast evolving domains. An example is the area of bioinformatics. Here we develop data management and analysis tools to support biologists and medical researcher to 'surf' the enormous wave of genetic, molecular, disease and phenotypic data has come available in past few years thanks to huge improvements in biotechnology (microarrays, genotyping, mass spectrometry etc). This has resulted in a wild-west of software development trying to keep up with science. My focus is to introduce new software engineering methods to reduce duplicated efforts and reinventions of wheels. This should enable 'software mass customizations' that enables biologists to really get the software they need to have.Specialties: In my toolbox I have domain specific languages, code generation, design patterns. Im very skilled in requirements analysis, data and metadata modeling. I mainly implement the software using Java, PHP, MySQL, Freemarker, Tomcat, Eclipse, Maven, Subversion.
