Mentor first-year English department graduate teaching assistants by working directly with Dr. Linda Haynes (Assistant Director of ICaP) and ICaP staff on developing teaching materials as well as strategies for teaching in ICaP classes to support mentoring and training of graduate students and lecturers.Hold weekly office hours to support first-year graduate student teaching assistants and lecturers in teaching and also observing their classes to provide feedback. Lead on developing technology related lesson plans and implement it in training first-year graduate students. Support first-year graduate students on navigating the first-year experience as well as on their professional development in cooperation with ICaP staff, the Writing Lab, and the Graduate Program in English.Support instructors to learn best practices for teaching online courses by providing lessons on curating an online class, video lectures, and any issues related to online teaching.

Themed Business writing class on service learning and community engagement by partnering with local community partner: Caregiver Companion (Fall 2018) and international community partner: Code for Nepal (Spring 2019).Students learned grant writing to apply Office of Engagement grants at Purdue and received Four grants in Fall 2018 worth $3400 and Two Grants in Spring worth $1500 to support community partner.Students learned how to manage real-world business communication by engaging with the community and community partners and by producing various communications products catering to the community partner’s needs.Students engaged with the local and international community to work collaboratively to get real-world business writing experiences that supports larger communities beyond their disciplinary boundaries.Students learned document design, formal report and proposal writing, as well as managing budget.Students organized two events on campus one in the Fall (for Caregiver Companion) and one in the Spring (for Code for Nepal) to generate awareness and recruit volunteers for the organizations.
