I work at Change.org India where I offer end to end campaign support to petition starters, build and manage relationships with them and other stakeholders to drive impact. I support with social media strategy and I am also responsible for managing content - both emails and social media.Before this, I have worked as a journalist for more than 13 years, covering multiple geographic regions, straddling stories across politics, business, environment, natural disasters, civic affairs and other subjects.I worked at the Times of India, the country's largest English daily, where I was the main coordinator for an edition with a readership in the tens of thousands. On a daily basis, working on very tight deadlines, my responsibilities included coordinating with at least two dozen reporters and editors, editing and re-writing several stories besides planning the edition and handling special reports and infographics.I worked at the Indian Express for about two years where I handled the editions published in Mumbai and Pune, among the largest markets for the newspaper.Prior to that, I spent a little more than eight years at the news desk with The Telegraph, Calcutta, where I sharpened my editing and writing abilities under some of the best editors in the business.While pursuing a masters degree in Sociology with focus on gender studies, human rights and population, I worked with NGOs where I collaborated with government officials and donors on projects related to providing healthcare to children and women. I have also handled research and funding reports before moving into journalism.I believe that my skills – particularly coordination, planning, communication, relationship management and editing, together with my academic training in journalism, political science and sociology, my understanding of the media environment and command over English, Hindi and Bengali – would be a valuable addition to any team.
