I can provide advice and services on digital and technical matters, and Orkney-based facilitation services, to businesses, public sector organisations, community groups, and individuals. I prefer to work with associates on projects, but am flexible on when, where and how I operate. I am a proud jack-of-many-trades, and master-of-few, but if you need an extra pair of hands, or an external insight into some problem, I will give you all my best efforts and energy.I will always consider providing services and advice pro bono, for local (or other small) social and civic enterprises, or if a proposal provides value in terms of training or experience opportunities. Work done for the public sector, and for commercial or large third sector organisations, will be charged at a competitive commercial rate. Activities I will consider include: online events, audio-visual operations, livestreaming of events, event administration, facilitation, system and service design, business continuity planning, project management, and similar roles.

Orkney ICT Forum, now branded as the digitalOrkney Forum, existed for many years as an email list, administered by Steven Heddle (then of the then Orkney Enterprise) and me, until being formally constituted as a voluntary community organisation in May 2012. It has always had the aim of facilitatating collaboration so that those involved in Orkney in web development, and in the provision of ICT and social media services (and related communications and technology services), can take action collectively where appropriate. The Forum hosted the IslandGovCamp 2012 event in Kirkwall.

[15 month secondment into the Corporate & Community Resilience team (formerly known as the Emergency Planning Unit)]Review of the Council's Business Continuity arrangements, including development and integration with the Council's Major Emergency Procedure of a corporate Business Continuity Plan , consisting of 12 service area recovery plans covering all Council services (Corporate Services, Marine Services, Finance & Housing Services, Development & Environment Services, Education & Leisure Services, Community Social Services) to ensure continued compliance by the Council with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and associated regulations and guidance.

I was Orkney Islands Council's first corporate IT employee. Assisted senior management in creating an in house ICT team, mainly funded by efficiency savings achieved through progressively insourcing ICT support and development between 1996 and 2000.
