In this role i will be supporting clients with their Asset Integrity, Corrosion & Inspection programmes, providing these Asset Performance capabilities to help improve the performance of their assets through innovative technology and expertise. My goal is to ensure we help our clients improve plant uptime & reliability, optimize operating cost and help to mitigate risk, throughout the life cycle of their assets.

Following a strategic carve-out from the Lloyd’s Register (LR) Group, LR’s Energy business is now Vysus Group, a standalone engineering and technical consultancy, offering specialist asset performance, risk management and project management expertise across complex industrial assets, energy assets (oil and gas, nuclear, renewables), the energy transition and rail infrastructure.

Working as Ops Manager for LRCSA has been a great opportunity and has proven to be a highly demanding position - Mainly focusing on Asset Integrity, the role also requires supporting the other LR Energy service lines i.e. Inspection, Consulting, Compliance & Drilling – As Ops Manager for LRCSA, i currently report to the LREA Ops Director in Houston.Operations – Responsible for the day to day operation for the region, ensuring business continuity & growth is in alignment with the corporate goals & strategies. Driving performance including: safety, quality & business improvements by ensuring systems, processes & procedures are co-ordinated, effective and efficient to meet business, commercial & mang’t systems requirements. Maintain close client relationships with both execs & eng’s to ensure understanding of their business to fill the role as “Trusted Advisor”. Keeping on top of advancing technology and new services/solutions in which can be offered.Business Dev- Managing the BD & sales activities for the region involves collaboration with the various VP’s & Managers – Create/ensure business plans/strategies are successful. Further enhancing strategies & marketing material through collaboration with the BD, marketing & commercial managers.Project Management – Imperative for maintaining client satisfaction (and growth) by ensuring projects are run efficiently, safely, on-time and within budget. LR PM Framework allows us to oversee and maintain a consistent approach to PM.Financials – Ensuring the business is run efficiently maximising both revenue & margins whilst remaining competitive in the local market. Responsible for the annual budgets, regular meetings with financial managers/directors are required.Local Resource & Technical Development – Through mentoring and access to our network of SME’s establish career pathways and training plans to ensure a highly competent team of local eng’s to support and meet the expectations of local & Int’l clients.

Moving across to Trinidad during October 2006 was a great career move; it saw my position move into a more senior role which involved overseeing various projects ranging from API Safety audits to Risk Based Inspection Software implementations. The two years in this position was an experience for sure.

My role on the Magnus project was similar to that on the NW Hutton, but the level of work was much higher and involved much more offshore Inspection Engineering support.

Since the NW Hutton was decommissioned and the level of work required diminished I moved into an Inspection Engineer support position. This role involved providing support to the various projects we had within Lloyd’s Register including the NUI visits to NW Hutton as required. During this time i found myself working on several of the other BP assets including the SNS terminals (Dimlington/Easington), Leman field, Indi field, Ravenspurn North, West Sole Alpha, Shehalion and last but not least the Clair platform. This position was for a period of around 8 months.

Having worked a regular offshore position as LNT for around 12 months, a Project Engineers position became available within the Aberdeen office, I saw this as the opportunity i'd be waiting for and submitted my internal application - It wasn’t long before I moved into the office to fill my new role as Project engineer for the BP North West Hutton Integrity Management team. During my time in this position I obtained further training in Corrosion & Plant Inspection which broadened my roles and responsibilities within LR; it wasn’t long before my position involved Offshore Inspection Engineer Support for the NW Hutton. During 2003 the NW Hutton was do commence decommissioning, even after the down manning of this facility I was involved with the regular NUI trips to conduct the required inspections.

Only 8 months after leaving LR Integrity (Formely RTD), Lloyd's Register made contact again and asked my interest in a two on/two off as LNT (Lead NDT Technician) on the BP Thistle (AKA: The Black Pig), I quickly took them up on the offer and filled the position for around 12 months. This position involved supervising all NDT work on board the platform and ensuring all scopes of work were completed efficiently. Some great experience at a young age that helped give me the drive to progress my career.

Having moved to CAN Offshore in 2001 with a hope to travel a bit and broaden my inspection background i obtained my Rope Access (IRATA) qualification and completed various projects offshore, down in Wales and over in Norway. My role within CAN was based out of the base office in Aberdeen coupled with onshore base support as required.

My first role in the oil & gas industry was as an NDT Technician, both in the head office and offshore. During this time I gained some valuable experience which has been the foundation of my career. Qualified as PCN Level II in the following methods of Inspection 1) Ultrasonic Testing, 2) Radiographic Testing, 3) Magnetic Particle Inspection, 4) Dye Penetrant Inspection & 5) Eddy Current Inspection, I was able to provide the business with support on most projects as required. Through RTD's investment into innovative technology i.e. incotest, IRIS, etc I was able to broaden my expertise into some of the more specialist areas of inspection.
